See you at Yearly Meeting Gathering – and other upcoming events

Tuesday 1 August 2017

Movement Building through the gifts of diversity – 16.00 to 17.00

Join us at this session at Yearly Meeting Gathering at Warwick University.

In times of intensifying global social and political change, gender and sexually diverse people can offer a particular contribution to movement-building. We can challenge prejudice and inequality and grow together through listening to each other, and by sharing our gifts, learning and experience.

Sunday 30 July 2017 – 19.30 to 20.30

Exploring and welcoming gender diversity in our meetings

North East Thames Area Meeting recently made a statement on gender diversity. We want our meetings to be welcoming and nurturing, including to people who are transgender and non-binary. We hope that we can all grow together in our understanding of gender identity. In this session, explore with us how we reached this statement and where we can go from here.

Saturday 30 September – 11.00 to 16.00

Bunhill Fields Quaker Meeting House, Banner St, London EC1Y 8QQ

Open meeting for sharing and AGM

We will have a Meeting for Worship and a sharing time plus lunch. The AGM will be held in the afternoon. This will be a chance to catch up with changes to our name and image, our website and finances. We want to explore our mission – what are we here for? How shall we direct our campaigning energies? How can we support each other? All are welcome.

Saturday 4 November 2017 – 11.00 to 16.00

Bath Quaker Meeting House

All-day gathering

All are welcome to enjoy a day together in Bath. The day will start with coffee and welcome, leading to a meeting for worship. We will have time to share our personal challenges and joys, and to get to know each other better. We will have a discussion about concerns and actions for our community – what are the LGBT+ issues for today? What can Quakers offer? How can QGSDC lead and facilitate?

Invitation to an LGBT Advent & Christmas retreat

Urs Mattmann is the author of on a book on Gay & Lesbian Christian spirituality: Coming In – Gays and Lesbians reclaiming the spiritual  journey, Wild Goose Publications. He also facilitates LGBT retreats, sometimes alone or with renowned co-facilitators like Cassandra Howes, Chris Glaser or James Alison. He says:

It gives me great pleasure to invite you to an LGBT Advent & Christmas retreat in Mid December at the fabulous Holland House retreat centre. While in a rural area it is easy to reach, with a train station at Evesham. I am aware December is a bit far off, but I know that a lot of people have to plan ahead. For more details and registration see the following link, and the flyer below.

I have facilitated this retreat before and it was a great experience for all involved and with positive feedback about this opportunity to spend this festive and reflective time looking at the Christmas event from an LGBT perspective.

I hope to welcome many of you at this beautiful Tudor House in a peaceful countryside.
